Why do we charge for a security check when some locksmiths do it for free?
Well, to say it how it is, how can any business sustain doing anything for free? We think that if a locksmith is offering you a free security check, they have to recoup their costs somehow! Are they going to give you misguided information in order for you to buy their services that you really don’t need? Are they going to be able to afford to spend enough time at your property in order to give you the correct advice?
WE WON’T DO THAT: as we have covered our costs and you have received excellent advice from a master locksmith-approved company.
YOUR SECURITY CHECK FEE IS WAIVED: if you book in any work that we recommend that you have done at the time of the security check.
THE SECURITY CHECK IS ALSO FREE: if you require us to do this whilst we are already at your property, i.e., if you called us out to repair a failed lock, we would offer you the security check for free as part of our customer service.

What the security check involves
- Insurance companies require your apertures to meet a minimum security level It is almost certainly in your insurance conditions that your doors should have a 5-lever BS 3621 mortice deadlock on a timber door or at least a 3-point locking system on a UPVC or composite door, which will all lock off at the same time with a turn of a key.
- They will require window locks that are insurance-approved and are key-lockable.
- Some insurers are now advising that you must have anti snap locks on UPVC and composite doors (as lock snapping is accounting for so much crime).

- We will do a perimeter survey of your property – to identify weak spots and look at it through an intruder’s eyes – and will advise on how best to secure this area and protect your outbuildings and driveway security.
- Internal security – zoning off areas within your property is an excellent form of security.
- Do you need a safe? We will advise on what you need and where it should be fitted.
- Vehicle security – we will give you advice on what works.
- Alarms and CCTV – we can sort this out for you.

We had one customer who was having her locks superglued up every few days – of course, this is a silent, very easy thing to do – obviously, it causes a lot of hassle and renders the lock useless!
It got to a point where this poor lady was at her wit’s end, she had called many locksmiths over a period of a few weeks and had spent in excess of £1000 in locksmith callouts and new locks.
We solved this issue in 1 visit, as we did away with her keyhole and fitted her with an electronic keyless lock all for under £200 – she never had a problem again with glued-up locks. The point I am trying to make here is not all locksmiths are cut from the same cloth – not one of those previous locksmiths in attendance came up with this solution for this lady!
