Do you have a jammed UPVC door?
Jammed UPVC door opened and repaired by Midlands Locksmiths
Is your UPVC double-glazed door jammed in the locked position so you cannot open it, or is it stuck so you can’t lock it at all?
From my experience, multipoint locking mechanisms, also known as MPLs, typically have a lifespan of around 10 to 15 years. Most of the time, you will get some warning that they are about to fail. When you lift the handle, it may feel clunky, or you might notice the gears inside the gearbox starting to grate.
However, this should not be confused with poor alignment of the door. In cases of misalignment, the grating you hear or feel when lifting the handle is actually the deadbolt or hooks rubbing against the keeps on the frame. This is an alignment issue. If this is happening, it is best to have your door aligned as soon as possible, as forcing the handle up to lock the door can cause the MPL to break.
Opening these doors once they have failed is something of an art. It comes down to product knowledge and an understanding of the particular MPL’s tolerances and locking points. I have made it my business to study these systems, and I am highly competent in opening and replacing them. I carry a large stock of the 200-plus multipoint locking systems currently on the market.
If your MPL is obsolete, I can likely fit an alternative system to get your door working again quickly. If your door also needs new handles or a new cylinder, I can supply and fit these as well. I can also realign your door to ensure it locks smoothly and easily.
Do not worry about being left insecure. In most cases, once I have opened your jammed UPVC door, I will be able to repair it on the spot, as I carry extensive stock. In the unlikely event that I do not have the required part on the van or in the workshop, I can have it delivered the next day, and I will always ensure your property is secure until I return.
